Amaco Kiln Ice Stoneware Glaze No. KI-46 Frozen Fern offers a unique, hazy yellow-green hue reminiscent of nature in a frozen landscape. The Kiln Ice series is inspired by traditional Guan or Snowflake glazes, offering a striking visual effect that combines tradition with modern aesthetics.
Its main characteristic is the fine network of hairline cracks (crazing), which creates a multi-layered visual texture. Although it is translucent, the glaze becomes slightly opaque where the cracks form, giving depth and uniqueness to each piece.

Tips from the studio
Tips from the studio
Frozen Fern is a glaze that brings 'life' and movement to surfaces. Its cracks take on another dimension on clays with a strong texture.
Pro Tip: To further emphasize the network of cracks after firing, you can rub a little ink or oxide onto the surface and wipe it off, letting the paint 'settle' into the cracks.
