PRAF , better known in the ceramic community as "Rafael" , is a premium white stoneware clay, specially designed for artistic ceramics. Its composition offers the perfect balance between stability and texture, making it the first choice for sculpture , murals and the Raku technique.

Its characteristic ivory color after firing acts as the ideal canvas for glazes and oxides, allowing the colors to develop intense and bright tones.

Tips from the studio

At Neraw Materials, Rafael (PRAF) is the clay we highly recommend for anyone who wants to experiment with Raku or build large sculptures. The security you feel while drying is unsurpassed.

Pro Tip: If using it for utilitarian stoneware objects, fire at 1250°C to achieve maximum density and the purest ivory color.

Color Evolution

Baked: Ivory (Ivory / Cream-White)

Note: PRAF's color highlights oxides exceptionally well, adding depth and intensity to the final results.

Texture & Behavior

Raku Specialization: PRAF is world-famous for its excellent behavior in the rapid temperature changes of the Raku technique.

Structural Stability: The high content of chamotte offers superior strength during drying and firing, minimizing the chances of cracking.

Aesthetic Texture: The presence of grain provides a beautiful, embossed surface that enhances the aesthetics of sculptural works.
