The rubber pottery nephride is an essential tool for shaping, straightening and finishing surfaces in clay. It is used both on the wheel and in hand-made construction to smooth walls, remove excess moisture and give a clean, even surface.

Its elastic texture allows for control without pulling or damaging the clay, while the characteristic kidney-shaped shape adapts easily to curves and interior surfaces. Depending on the size, it covers everything from details to larger forms.

Tips from the studio

It is one of the first tools you pick up on the wheel. We use it constantly to “clean” the mold as we work, without losing the feel of the clay under our hands.
