Wooden pottery tools with balls are used to create curves, depressions, and organic shapes in clay. They act as a molding base, allowing the clay to open and take shape with controlled, gentle pressure.

The porous wooden surface does not stick to the clay, making it easy to remove without distortion. Depending on the size, the tools can be used for both fine details and more intense, sculptural forms. They are ideal for leather-hard clay, but work equally well in softer states for organic shaping.

Tips from the studio

We use them when we want to “push” the clay without damaging it. They are one of the quietest yet essential tools on the studio table, especially for forms that require softness and natural movement.
